The webpage of the Tourist Office Filzmoos offers a lot of information about all sort of summer activities.
Here you can also find information about the guest card (Salzburger Sportwelt Card) and a link to a folder with the associated services and discount admissions.

A recommendation for hiking maps: paper, topological, scale not higher than 1:50.000. A good one with an appropriate map section is the official Austrian map “ÖK 50 sheet 3217, Hallstatt“.

Hiking and Mountaineering
Directly from the house or with a short drive there are plenty of opportunities for hikes. Here is a small selection of suggestions:

  • directly from the house to the Arzbergalm (1h), if you like, further on to the Sulzenkaralm (1h) or to the Hofpürgelhütte (1h).
  • directly from the house passing the Neuberger Hof further on to the Gsengalm (50min), an alpine restaurant with good cuisine. You can get there as well with the car (10min).
  • with the car from Filzmoos to the Oberhofalm or Unterhofalm (from Filzmoos toll road). Good cuisine and starting point for small or larger walks up to hikes of any duration, e.g. to the Hofpürgelhütte.
  • spectacular: the south face of the Dachstein mountain range. Through Filzmoos heading for Ramsau am Dachstein, then left, up to the Dachstein Südwand Bahn (toll road). Either with the cable car or hiking to the Dachstein glacier or a hike at the foot of the south face.
